Singapore where he taught English to Chinese boys up to
the standard of the Cambridge Senior Local Examination,
and took his class in all subjects required for that
examination.
The official statement of Mr. Turner's record
at Singapore states that his work and conduct were quite
satisfactory. He is understood to have resigned at the
end of his period of probation owing to dissatisfaction
with certain promotions made. The reports on his pre-
vious service in Scotland and his testimonials are of a
satisfactory nature and, at his re-appearance before the
Committee, he confirmed the agreeable impression made at
the previous interview, As was pointed out in the
previous recommendation the details of his career argue
considerable persistence and force of character.
Mr. Turner is anxious to return to the East as he
enjoyed his experience in Singapore and found that the
conditions of the life suited him.
